MUSIC OF THE WEEK: LEE HI (이하이)-Special (ft. Jennie Kim of YG New Artist)

Whoo. That's a mouthful haha. And I know it's the middle of the week, but I thought eh, what the heck. But from now on, I'll try to these "Music of the Week" posts on a Monday. Or maybe a Sunday. We'll see.

This album is only a part 1, meaning that there'll be a part 2 coming out sometime soon. Anyways, I recently downloaded this album back a few weeks ago and though I wasn't too particularly fond of the 'main' track, "It's Over", I absolutely fell in love with her track, Special, at first listen. There was something about the beat and rhythm used in the song. It wasn't too heavy or too dubstep-ish, if you get what I mean. In my opinion, her vocal talent really got to shine through, in all its glory and etc. haha. Her voice is really soothing and more mellow in this song than her other ones. It wasn't as strong and powerhouse/jazzy compared to say, "1,2,3,4" or whichever. Her voice in this song reminds me of the style in which she sang for Epik High's "It's Cold". Nice, soothing, and relaxing, perfect for days when I want to mellow down.

I've been listening to this song a lot lately along with NU'EST's "Hello" (여보세요), so much where it would be on repeat sometimes. It's definitely calming to listen to, when you just want to wind down and relax your mind haha. In my opinion they kind of have a similar feel and beat, where their voices are more on the soothing side. Lee Hi's vocal style remind me of someone like that of Rihanna or even a mini Adele. Of course they're not exactly the same and everyone's voices are unique in their own way; Lee Hi's voice just reminds me of them.

Overall, YG Entertainment is making it really big with this rookie star. Lee Hi is definitely bursting with raw talent and strong vocal skills. Can't wait to see whats in store for her future songs.

She looks so adorable here xD
